Question 4 the day: February 19, 2003

The question for the day is from the topic of Races.
A skating champion moves along the circumference of a circle of radius 21 meters in 44 seconds. How many seconds will it take her to move along the perimeter of a hexagon of side 42 meters?

(1) 56 (2) 84
(3) 64 (4) 48
Correct Answer - (2)

Solution:

Circumference

= 132 meters

Speed of the skater = Distance covered / Time taken

Perimeter of hexagon = 6a = 6 X 42

= 252m

Time taken to cover the perimeter of the hexagon = Distance (perimeter) / Speed

Seconds
